Samantha, I really appreiated your message. Many people encouraged me along the journey, but in the end it always boils down to doing it ourselves. There have been many times when my stuttering had a serious impact on my life and it still can in my sunset years. As you join us in our profession, I hope that you remember that perhaps the two most important clinical traits of a clinician working with stutterers are "caring" an "being there" and that means 24/7. These have to come from the heart and can't be faked. I wish you all the best in your graduate studies and a successful professional career. If I can be of any assistance along the way, feel free to call on me. Students have always been my life. With warm regards, Dorvan Breitenfeldt
