Dear Shannon and Beth, Thank you for reading my life's story and your great question. It's amazing how ingenious one can become when you do not want the world to know your deep, dark secret. I would say only what I could say without stuttering and that became less and less. Even the most severe stutterer has a great deal of fluent speech. I avoided and substituted words, changed the word order around and used a lot of garbage speech all in the name of trying to be fluent. The pressure is increditable when you try to be someone you are not. You may want to go to the website www.ssmpmanual.com to get some info on my therapy program, the Successful Stuttering Management Program (SSMP) to get my feelings on how to treat a stutterer like me. My best wishes to both of you, Dorvan Breitenfeldt
