I am a speech pathology student in a graduate program. I am currently enrolled in a class entitled Stuttering Seminar and I found your article to be very motivating. I found it interesting that you mentioned that your children were offended when their classmates made fun of your stuttering. I can relate to this very well. My father stutters, but that was just part of growing up in the family. It is normal to me that my father stutters, and even though he has grimaces and blocks, I don’t always notice them. However, if anyone would mention something to me about his stuttering, I would immediately take offense. I also found the emotions that you detailed in your article to be wonderfully eye-opening and insightful. I appreciate your writing this article as it has given me a greater understanding into the emotions of a stutterer.
