B. Showalter:

Thanks for your kind words.

I suspect that Todd's stuttering, at the time he returned to see me after his "crash," was more severe than I had ever observed it to be previously, was directly related to his "feeling of being out-of-control," not only with respect to his fluency but with his life in general. Our treatment approach had focused on earning and maintaining the "feeling of fluency control," rather on maintaning an arbitrary level of fluency based on frequency counts. Once Todd got help, his stuttering returned to its "normal" level. As the years have gone by, Todd's stuttering has become less of a problem to him (he generally reports that he can maintain the feeling of fluency control even in his most "stressful" speech situations.

Hope this is responsive to your question.

Again, thanks for your interest.

Gene
