Dear Stephanie:

Thanks for your interest in the CPS Syndrome.

The easiest response to your question is to refer you to our description or our approach to this issue in "Cooper Pesonalised Fluency Contol Therapy Program - Adolescent and Adult Version," published by ProEd in 2003.

Our treatment program's end-goal is the development of "the feeling of fluency control." rather than an arbitrarily chosen frequency-of- stuttering level. In view of that, our program focuses on the ABCs (affective, behavioral, and cognitive) components of stuttering syndromes. Assuming the client being discussed is the "typical" client, all the issues surrounding the CPS Syndrome can typically be addressed by SLPs.

To answer your excellent question with the depth it warrants would not be practical here.

If after reading our Adolescent and Adult clinician's manual, you have additional questions, please to not hesitate to contact me (ebcooper@msn.com).

Best wishes in your studies.

Gene
