My dearest Mare,

I have to admit that this story is no surprise to me since you have always been the inspiring one. I’d loved reading this part: “To be Marija Cvetkovic, the one and only Marija Cvetkovic” because, believe me, you are the one and only. Not too many of us would have courage to write a part of our life, just like that, in the open, for everyone to read. See how far you’ve come? And, I do say that the story is only a part of your life, because that’s exactly what it is a part of your life. It’s just a part of you that most of the time and I do not even think about (unless you send me 300 e-mails about this website). All of those years that you have described were difficult and challenging but you are still here and now you are teaching others about stuttering. Do I have to say anything else? Well yes! (I’m on the roll now!) You are one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life! Thank you for teaching me about strength, slowing down, answering questions with anything else but “I don’t know”, enjoying little things, caring; thank you for the endless walks, silence, hours of discussions, tapping my back after I inhaled my first cigarette and million other things. (You’ll need a whole new website if I don’t stop!) And to all of those people, who have just met someone who stutters, or know someone who stutters, slow down, listen, trust me that person might just help you break out of your own cocoon.

Mare, I love you and miss you very much
