Dear Joe, of course I would like to work with the children but the only problem to me are their parents who I'd have to communicate with and I'm a bit unsure of how they would perceive my stuttering. I've spent a few months of so called "practice" in a kindergarden, and it was for both "normal" and children with disabilities. I lead only a couple of "classes" but my specialty was singing and playing the synthesizer to them. I felt nervous to talk in front of my mentor, and would probably need a couple of months to lose this tension - if I ever got into that line of work.

In Croatia we have a Croatian Association for People who Stutter called "Hinko Freund". The president is dr.Suzana Jelcic-Jaksic who is (or was - I've never heard her stutter) also a PWS and a SLP. We have our web-pages at the following address: www.udruga-hinkofreund.hr and you can easily click on Forum and post a message in English, say hi to everybody! Regarding the PWS in Croatia, most of us try the Valmod therapy in the northern city of Varazdin and almost all had went through some kind of speech-therapy as children (e.i. reading with the headphones). The tendency is to hide stuttering and not talk about it too much - except with the fellow stutterers. The society is far from being understanding or supportive of this problem. Finding a job as a stutterer can be pretty painful and discouraging.

How about in Cameroon?
