Great paper, Terry! You did a beautiful job of describing the conflict and chaos that have accompanied so many covert stutterers throughout their lives. The conflict you referenced manifests itself in our daily lives with choices of openness or maneuvering. And the chaos you talked about related to the peripheral effect on your stress and well-being to the point of requiring help to deal with the anxieties related to stuttering.
But, you HAVE lived a life of incredible achievement and still do, I know, in your inspirational accomplishments, both occupationally and personally. I think the truest statement that was made about your journey -- which you did NOT make -- was the testament of your incredible courage, discipline and commitment to live an incredibly full life and bull-dog your potential all the way forward, despite being so torn in silence by your stuttering.
THAT's your story -- covert speech but overt love of life.
