Terry,

I make a point not to worry about what I could have done differently as a child. That is part of not beating myself up for stuttering. I am now a speech pathologist and have the opportunity to help children and their families deal with stuttering in ways that were not available to me. I also do a lot of public speaking and always make a point to stutter on purpose early in my presentations so that my stuttering is immediately advertised.

I would absolutely become an attorney now if I wanted it. Right now I am very happy being a speech pathologist, but I have considered going back and getting my law degree. From your paper, I felt a lot of strength emanating from you and have no doubt that you would be able to take on the challenges you speak of. And of course, a little support from other stutterers never hurts!

I look forward to the rest of ISAD and to your ongoing comments.

Peter
