I found your article regarding stuttering and Tourette's Syndrome quite interesting. I am currently a graduate student at Minnesota State University-Mankato, planning on graduating in December. The specific topic of stuttering occurring secondary to Tourette's Syndrome is something that does not seem to receive a lot of attention in most courses, so it was nice to read a more in depth article about the topic. I just have one question. I am currently doing my last internship in the public schools right now and my supervisor and I are seeing a boy who has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. She has seen him for a few years now and I have only been recently treating him. My supervisor stated that he had quite a severe stutter when she first started seeing him, but with some treatment, it has improved. I have only noticed this briefly as I only see him 1x/week. My question is whether or not you are familiar with or have read a lot of research regarding autism and stuttering and if there seems to be a general prevalence within this population? I have found it to be interesting as another local SLP also is treating an autistic boy who also stutters. Your article peaked my interest in this topic.
