MIchael Surgarman asked me to respond to the ? about use with children. With the very young ones I have found it most beneficial for the parents to understand; to review it with them and for them to offer it to teachers, the school SLP, etc. Some youngsters DO understand many of the concepts IF you re-word for their levels of comprehension. I also used it with a 13 yr. old and he was quite pleased with the "rights" but then I challenged him with 'what comes with rights are responsibilities....are you ready for that? Well, I think this shy teen spoke more that day than ever! It took up the entire session and part of the next one; and during the week, his parents read it and had questions. I know you are asking about children, but allow me to tell you how this pamphlet worked for a woman in her 30's during an interview (having lost 2 jobs already). The first thing she did was to present this to the interviewer, who read it. The issues of stuttering were then open to conversation but also she told me that he thanked her for the pamphlet (yet another 'given away' but for a worthy cause..for others to come his way) and passed this on to the HR person. RESULT: employment with an institution that has been informed! This pamphlet has SOOOooo many ways to be used and I keep finding them without searching! I hope I've helped to answer your question....I don't know exactly how to reach the person who asked the specific question....
