As you know it is not evident to give advice about a person you didn't meet personally. However my general point of view (there are exceptions of course) is not to be mysterious about the problem. If parents or other members of the childs environment are worried, thy won't be able I believe to hide it from the child. I'm not saying we should immedeately start an intensive therapy with this child, but a lot can be done on ceeping speech pleasant, looking for factors that enhance, worsen stuttering, not being afraid to make disfluencies... and the most important thing: advice parents, not by saying "it will dissappear" but giving them real things that support them in their communication with their child. When all these conditions lead to a more stable opennes about the 'problem' it becomes easy to call a Stutter a Stutter. Personally I hate the word "bumpy speech": it gives me an uncomfortable feeling of daring to say where it really is about.
