Thank you for a most informative article. It stresses the importance of advocacy not only on an individual level, but on all levels. State associations (I guess in your case, country associations?) like mine (New Jersey) have paid lobbyists and can do much to foster awareness of disabilities and introduce appropriate legislation...in NJ our state Speech and Language Association is part of a consortium with just those goals.
