I like this analogy too and it's a simple way to explain it all to a listener and not look too immersed and self-absorbed (hm...why did "immerse" come up??). Because I've noticed if a person talks about his/her problem too much and analyzes it beyond the rules of being polite, I feel a negative reaction toward that person. This way, if they ask me about stuttering, I make a story out of it: "Imagine an iceberg..." Lovely! Thanks, Russ
