Mr.Hicks- I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading your article. I agree with you in that analogies can make even a complex disorder, concept, etc, more underdstandable. I had actually heard of the iceberg analogy before reading your article, but you presented it in a slightly different light. Before reading your article I had never thought about the fact that treating the top 10% of stuttering (the tip of the iceberg seen from the surface) would not leave a resulting 90% to be treated. I think it is important for people to realize that this method of treatment will not only not really help a person who stutters, but that it might actually make their problem worse on some levels.
