Hello Anders

Gosh-- how great it was to listen once againn to the voice of Doc Van. WOW !!! It is like re-living the past. This has been a neat experience.

I think that several points need to especially be emphasized: (1)- for the stutterer to learn what he is doing and to learn easier and better ways to do it, (2)- that the essence of stuttering really becomes the issue during the stabilization phase of tratment. Getting to the point of easier fluency/stuttering is one thinm, but maintaining ir over time is the real issue.

I was never a formal student of Doc Van. But I got to know him a bit, early in my own professional career. So I have read his works, and heard him in the past through numerous audio tapes and video tales. I suppose that those of us who have heard Van in the past will judge this audio tape as a marvelous review of what we have heard before. We will see it and understand it in the context of when he spoke -- back in the 70's. I am just sorry that students who did not know of him back then, might not be able to grap the essence of his worth, based solely on this short tape.

Thanks for sharring this historic moment.

Steve Hood
