Hello Dr. Mackesey, I am a graduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato studying Speech-Language Pathology.

I enjoyed reading your article on eye contact. Starting the process of maintaining good eye contact for pws would be very hard to do. I thought your tip about maintaining eye contact with yourself in a mirror when talking on the telephone was a great idea! After realizing the benefits of eye contact, and really wanting that, I thought that was a great next step. Thanks for sharing such great ideas!

When reading your article I also had a thought about the listener and how their eye contact could also effect the speaker. I would imagine that sometimes, even if the speaker is maintaining good eye contact before and after a stuttering moment that some listeners that are not educated about stuttering would possibly have problems with their eye contact. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions about this? How would this affect the speaker?

Thanks again for your great ideas! Sarah Bos
