Thank you Ira for your story from "Boston Public". I've not watched the show. I don't think many people agree that people who don't stutter have a good reason to make fun of PWS. I have been offended, on occasion, by how PWS are portrayed in movies and TV, not so much by the in appropriate use of humor but by the notion that PWS do so because of an emotional problem (One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest), or that stuttering would go away if the speaker got mad (The Cowboys) or get even with someone (A Fish Called Wanda). I did find they way stutting was portrayed in My Cousin Vinney funny. I've viewing humor as a variable in the change process. Being able to recognize what is truly funny and appreciate why is a good thing. Mean and stupid people are still going to be mean and and stupid and I, like you, don't think that's a good idea.
