Thanks for your great article on Humor and change. I was one of the people who facilitated a workshop at the NSA convention in Nashville, along with Elaine Saitta, titled, "Healing With Laughter." We had a packed room, and I think that everybody in that room shared a humorous story relating to stuttering.

I will share just one funny story here dealing with my stuttering. One evening, my wife, Harriet, and I were talking, and as is usually the case, she was busy doing ten things at once. While I was asking her a question, I had one of my legendary, "eye closing blocks." When I opened my eyes, Harriet was GONE. It was like she had vanished into thin air. Actually, during my block, she had gone into the bedroom. At first, I didn't know whether to be real mad or laugh. The more I thought about it, the funnier it became. She didn't do it to be cruel, she did it because we are so comfortable with each other. I have tried many times since then to close my eyes and make her disappear when I'm trying to watch a football or hockey game, and she wants to shop, but it hasn't worked since that time. :-)

There is one "legendary" story about me and a group of NSA people on the train in Boston. Maybe my good buddy Russ Hicks can write about it here. He loves to tell it.
