Thank you for adding this piece to therapy. As a student in speech pathology, I try to make therapy very fun, but sometimes that is difficult. I have had several clients (artic and language) who can laugh with me when I goof up, but have a very difficult time laughing at their mistakes. I agree that humor is part of the changing process. I can remember as a child getting embarrassed and wanted to run away. Now I've come to accept that I do things that may embarrass me, but instead of running I can laugh at how silly or stupid I was. In addition to the changing process, I also think that humor comes as one ages. I can find humor in things that I couldn't as a child. In addition to using humor, I definitely agree that it has to be done correctly, respectfully, and in the client's own time. Thanks so much!
