Nice, thorough piece Larry.

When reading Starkweather's piece on PTSD and others, we continue to discuss and explore this social anxiety puzzle piece in stuttering.

Voluntary stuttering, Gestalt, REBT, and many other therapies utilized by SLPs over the years have been used for the purpose of reducing anxiety.

The SSMP features the stutterig surveys and desensitization as foundation in their program. WHy? THey realize how many pws manifest anxiety about stuttering and talking to strangers.

To treat the whole person, I bleieve we msut be equipped to wear the hat of counselor and clinician.

Cheers, Tim Mackesey
