We are graduate students at Fort Hays State University and are currently studying issues in stuttering. This was a great article and very helpful in understanding anxiety in the area of stuttering. It helped give a clear definition of anxiety in relation to those who stutter vs. those who experience social phobia. Is there a general age in which children are typically diagnosed with social phobia? In class we have been discussing when children gain awareness of their own disfluencies. Is there an age in which a child typically becomes aware of their social phobias similar to when they typically become aware of their disfluencies? Thank you for a great article!
