Susan, In a study I conducted and presented at the 1992 National ASHA Convention, I found that AWS were significantly more sensitive than adults who do not stutter. Using anecdotal evidence with 30 years of clinical experience with people who stutter (PWS), I have seen a large percentage exhibiting heightened sensitivity regardless of age.
