Hi, I am a student in the major or SLP and while reading your paper, I remembered the Andrews and Harris study that involved the study of 1,000 babies for 14 years. I am sure you are aware of the study. This study was similar to the study in your paper. The spontanious recovery of the children in this study was 1 out of every 5 that stuttered. My question to you is, even though the recovery rate might be high for this study and the one that you mentioned, wouldn't it be better if the child was treated for stuttering when the parent first notices the occurence of it in the hopes of, (if nothing else)considering it a kind of early intervention of what could or could not become worse as time goes on?
