Well, there is considerable scientific support for the Lidcombe Program, including studies of outcomes and predictors of outcome. To me, this is sufficient reason for choosing this treatment for preschoolers. As I said in the article, the decision about when to intervene with the Lidcombe Program is not straightforward, but it should be based primarily on the available evidence on both treatment and natural recovery, taking individual circumstances into account.
