Dear Howie,

I met Windy Dryden. He appears not to want to talk about stuttering. He suggested that I write an article for Journal of Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on stuttering. As the current editor he assured me that it would be passed on for peer review process.

I am really fascinated by your idea of emotional hijacking! I am studying the role of various brain regions in forming speech. However, what you have suggested is original. I think that you should submit an article on it to the Journal of Rational-Emotive and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy. It appears to me that REBT is a little behind in trying to tie in the neurological functions in their theories.

I really think that the behavioral assignments including voluntary pseudo repetitions, cancellations, changes in prosody, proprioceptive feedback, and even playing around with some elongations of the vowels are significant in rewiring the brain. But I never dreamt of the "two path" theory which you espoused.

Now if we only had access to fMRI we might be able to get some experimental data to confirm your hypothesis.

Respectfully,

Gunars

p.s. I really do hope that you consider seriously writing an article for the journal.
