I am part of Dr. Schwartz's stuttering class and took part of this assignment. I know that this is going to sound silly, but when I had to stutter, I looked at it like a play. In reality, you are playing a part of a person who stutters. So, view this as a performance. I participated in drama in high school, so I had a bit of an advantage, but it is easy to do! My advice would be to practice your "lines" by yourself at first and then work with others before you go out.
Also, one last thought. If you have ever done a "southern accent" or a "British accent" when goofing around (and be honest, you probably have at some point!), this is just another "accent." If you view it as such, perhaps you won't worry about sounding silly when you try to stutter.
