Hello Moussa,

your story is very interesting and inspiring. I am also a stutterer and I have been stuttering for four decades. But my story is not so successful as yours. Did you think what was the first step to improve your speech? Maybe it was the situation: “... when you asked the director of your thesis if it was possible for you not to do the oral presentation and his reply was no. So you had no another choice.” You did not give up and started to practice reading and speaking intensively. I think this situation helped you for the future life.

When I was at technical university about 25 years ago, I also asked my teachers if I was possible to do all my examinations on paper. And I was allowed to do so and I did not have to do oral examinations. It helped me then but it did not help me for the future because I was not forced to improve my speech intensively. After many years I have changed my attitude to my stuttering. I still stutter severely but I am trying to speak in all situation despite my speech blocks. I stutter more in English than in my native Czech. Could I translate your paper into Czech and give it to my fellow stutterers in our self-help group? I think all will read it with great interest. Thank you for sharing your story.

Kind regards,

Jiri Mazoch, Czech republic
