John, fantastic paper! Thanks for not only offering some vey practical and thought-provoking ideas and concepts, but thanks for re-awakening that basic concept in all of us that we tend to neglect how we treat ourselves, compared to what we would do for others.

You made an impact with me when you targeted your theme around talking to yourself and encouraging yourself in the same way that you would do for others, instead of being so berating, critical or frustrated. Man! I'm the worst culprit and you made me stop and think -- a lot!

My expectations of myself for fluency and speech tend to be elevated to an unrealistic threshhold that I know I'll fail. But somehow, I've been conditioned to only pursue excellence and not accept anything less. Tough sale to a stutterer, huh? I would never dissuade anyone else from not simply taking pride and celebrating the achievement of "best efforts" and "excellent intent" when it comes to communicating and speaking. So why do we not support ourselves any better?

You really provoked a good awareness with your whole piece. I especially liked the reflection that we tend to go in the direction we're looking. Thank goodness Kansas is flat so those curve-jumps aren't too damaging.

John, again, excellent and provocative paper that will make many stop and think for good reasons.

Chris
