Evan, Thank you so much for your response to our paper. You raise a wonderful and important question. My advice is to find a way to involve the arts in everyone's life. I feel that art is very healing. Finding a venue to express yourself is the most important thing. You have to experience some kind of freedom to know that that possibility exists. Sing a song, play the piano, write a play, do a dance. Find something artistic that you enjoy. Something that moves your heart. If you have something to express that is vital, you will find a way to express it no matter how you talk. I think speaking openly about stuttering is the first step. Attending a support group or conference is very important. Parents need to love their children unconditionally. That is the most important thing! It may sound easy but the love needs to be shown and expressed everyday. Children need to know that their parents love them and are proud of them and that it does not matter if they stutter. I hope my comments were helpful. If not, please let me know and I will try again. All my best, Taro.
