I took away such a positive, optimistic feeling from reading your article. I think it's absolutely terrific that this program was started and I think it was long overdue. What a wonderful experience it must be to participate in these projects! Every personal entry written by the actors highlighted the advantages of this program, mainly the confidence and self-esteem that is felt by the participants. I love the fact that the plays are created and acted out entirely by the cast and crew. One thing that was not mentioned in the article that I feel is worthy of attention is that Our Time sets an example for the rest of society. Many people not familiar with fluency disorders may not truly understand the nature of the disorder and through ignorance of the topic, may have certain false notions of what stuttering is and what impact it has on those who stutter. Our Time contributes to the education of society regarding stuttering in a positive way. Its' actors and actresses demonstrate that people who stutter are no different than people with fluent speech. They demonstrate that they are creative, talented, motivated, and cultured individuals that have important and interesting things to say. As a speech pathology graduate student, I applaud you for your work and your courageousness.
