Dear Alan, it is always with power and beauty that you write these words down. One thing I need your reply about this topic is: how to do if parents of a stuttering child have no patience and know little about stuttering? In my personal experience, my mother acted as an important role in the development of my stuttering. Of course she loved me then, however, she spoke fast and wanted me to speak in her way, and would not wait for me to finish the stuttering sentence. Hence I tended to keep silent, and my communicaiton ability was greatly limited until I left my family for university. Also I have seen some children and teenagers that would not speak a word when come to the therapist, with his/her family member urging him/her to speak.
