Hi Michael, It's good to hear from you! I'm glad you liked my poem - I think it contains an important message. I used to have problems saying a lot of words so I started avoiding them. I began saying other words instead. I thought it was the best thing to do, but then I realised that I was becoming even more afraid of the words that I was avoiding ;-) You can't always change around the words - there are times when you just have to say them. I learned that if you run away from something (and I was running away from the 'difficult' words), the fear grows and grows. But, you know, fear is only a thought in our heads. It's not real - it's just what we think about a particular word. If you have the courage to face up to it - you'll discover that the fear will go away. Well, that's what happened to me. I thought I couldn't say my name for many years, but then I made myself say it at every opportunity. Guess what happened ? -the fear went away. You mention that you have problems saying the word 'and'. As you know, we all use that word quite a lot in conversations. I really think that you can overcome the fear if you keep saying it as often as you can. Good luck! - I know you can do it. Thank you for writing to me - I really enjoyed what you had to say. Have a great day, Michael, and take care. Alan
