I am currently a speech-language pathology graduate student taking a course on stuttering. Your article provided great, tangible suggestions which can allow the novice or the seasoned clinician to better serve their clients and families. Specifically, I liked the suggestion to enhance better listening skills. This, coupled with the concept of leading clients to make their own discoveries is an important concept for SLP's to learn. In addition, the Eco Map and Genogram attachments are useful tools for clinician’s. The information they provide can be a valuable starting point for treatment. Lastly, your recommendation for more graduate coursework dealing with counseling can provide SLP's with increased confidence to guide their clients and families.
