Thank you so much for your comments. We realize the time commitment in schools, but both the eco-map and genogram can be done very simply for school- aged children. You can draw a flower and make the petals represent friends, family, and other resources. It doesn't have to be a cumbersome tool and the information can be gathered as part of your therapy. Another way to get good information on the attitudes of children is to have them draw a picture of their stuttering, or fill in the sentence: my stuttering is like)______. Kristin Chmela and Nina Reardon have published a wonderful workbooK: The School-Age Child Who Stutters: Working Effectively with Attitudes and Emotions.
