This article was very informative. I think that it is important to note that the priorities of the SLP need not only be in the area of trying to remediate the speech language difference/disorder, but to account for ALL areas of communication, much of which is represented by emotion. Do you think that it should be mandatory for students of the field to acquire course experience that deals specifically with how to manage the emotional aspect of having a communication disorder? Or should such experience and information just be filtered through the other course work?
