As a graduate student of Speech Language Pathology, I too had originally wondered why it was required of me to take a Counseling class. Now that I am taking the class and working with children and adults who stutter I am finding that my listening skills from class are really helping me. Listening skills play a crucial role in building postive relationships with both clients and their families. I think that it is important to know that Speech Pathologists are not only clinicians, we counsel our clients eveyday as we work through thier attitudes and emotions related to their communication disorders.
