Having learned about counseling and listening skills in my graduate courses thus far, I find it hard to imagine a clinician not using listening skills when dealing with clients and parents. I feel that it is so important to understand that listening does not mean always having a comment for the speaker's statements. Listening, internalizing the speaker's information, and responding with empathy can be so much more effective than merely trying to "fix the problem." I truly enjoyed reading this article.
