To all who have posted.... This article reminds me of the broad scope of an SLP's practice. I was incredibly lucky and had David Luterman as the professor for my counseling class at Emerson College. While I learned from one of the best, I still only had ONE course in counseling. I believe it was Emily who mentioned that she now understands why we as SLP's must take a counseling course. Think about it... we are helping people to SPEAK! Homo Sapiens are a very social being. The need to communicate is inherent in our being. I applaud Joe and Mike (two of my friends) for their article on listening and the chance to remind us all of the importance of counseling in our work. Kudos to all the students are taking part in this conference. Kevin
