Thank you both for the powerful information. Listening is such an important part of effective communication and is certainly a skill worth improving upon. I wonder, though, if you have noticed differences b/w male and female listeners. Unfortunately, I have seen younger male clients expected to be tougher and stronger when dealing with their feelings of stuttering which often comes from the father....the mothers tended to be more sensitive to their sons'feelings. I wonder when a parent(s) confront their male child/teen if they are less receptive or react differently than they would if they had a female child/teen who stuttered.
