Beth- thanks for your comments and questions. Listening is half of the communication process and yes, definitely, without a doubt -- when I engage in therapy with a CWS and their parents, I must, as a professional, help the parents learn this style of listening. IT IS WORK AND IS NOT ATTAINED OVER NIGHT! There is no cookbook for being a parent, and there definitely is no cookbook for being the parent of a CWS. It has been my experience that parents want to help their child and will go to any lengths to do so...even if it means they must engage in the therapy process! Parents want to learn how to help their child. I got into this field to do just that. Keep up your studies. You posed a great question!
