Sarah, Great questions. First I am not sure where we mentioned 80% but that is one of the current numbers reported on spontaneous recovery. Second, considering we know that there is a genetic predisposition for stuttering, I do not think constant correction of articulation errors can cause stuttering. It can make things drastically worse and it can lead to communicative apprehension, avoidance and self-esteem issues. Thirdly, I do not think listener reactions alone cause people to become "real" stutterers.........All this being said I am anxious to hear Mike's response to this!!!!
