I am glad you found this article useful. The York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program has been running since September 1998, and we are constantly revising and hopefully imoproving our parent training programs, including the Parent Fluency Workshop. These programs have many benefits - firstly the parents no longer feel alone - it is wonderful to have peers to relate to. Secondly they really do learn a lot of strategies and frequently their child's stuttering reduces significantly. Some families also they feel that they make major lifestyle and philosophical changes in how they bring up their children. So not only do the symptoms often reduce, but frequently the lines of communication between all family members change and improve. There definitely seem to be many benefits.
