I thought that your article was very inspiring. I'm studying to be a speech therapist and your advice that you gave to therapists I definitely took notes on. I'm sure that there are lots of other parents out there that have the same feelings that you did at the beginning. I think that it's hard to ask the right questions and know if the therapy for the client is working for them. I'm impressed that you went looking for help on your own and did your own research. I'm sure there are many more parents like you that are in the same situation. I hope that parents were inspired by your article and doing so will help them get the right help for their child. I feel that every client needs different therapy strategies and it’s important that the therapist communicates with the parents in their own terms of understanding. There’s certain speech lingo that speech therapists will use but they should be able to communicate that information in a different way for others who don’t know anything about stuttering to learn and understand. Do you think that other parents don’t know enough about their child’s stuttering and feel that they don’t know the right questions to ask? Do you think that there should be stuttering specialists instead of the client receiving therapy from a speech therapist? Did you feel that when you found the information that you needed and the questions you posed toward your clinician that, that’s when things got better for your son, or was it when you found someone who you truly trusted what they knew about stuttering that your son then received positive therapy? I really appreciate you sharing your story.
