I guess there are no "wrong" questions, but questions stemming from some basic understanding of an area are usually more productive than questions that come out of no where, or confusion. I do think there should be stuttering specialists and that speech therapists, unless they have extensive experience with stuttering, should always refer to or at least confer with those more experienced professionals. We had one therapist who specialized in stuttering, and that was far better than those who had no experience. But even with that, his stuttering did not improve, and he tired of therapy. Once he had lost his motiviation, I don't think it would have mattered who we had working with him. Right now we are coasting and working on his acceptance and self esteem (which is pretty great, thank goodness!) Thanks so much for listening and best of luck to you!
