What comes to mind is the work and words of Ingham and Ingham. In Dr. Ingham's PET Scan we see 'hyperactivity' in the speech producing area and little activity in the same area for the nonstutterer. He questions neurological miswriting/sending the wrong message to particular articulators involved. Janis Ingham says there's no problem in PLANNING but in selecting sounds, sequencing them, etc. to produce them. That would seem to point to the co-existence of problems. However, if it is true that the PET Scan returns to 'normal' when that person is NOT stuttering, then it does not follow, I think, that the problems are as co-existent as proposed. I'd appreciate your feedback and do hope I've expressed myself clearly enough! THANKS
