Hi Vickie: As I note in the article...there is some controversy at present over just what the "co-incidence rate" is. It may be that such children are over-represented on clinical caseload, because in general they have more needs than children who present only one impairment. Nonetheless, recent research suggests that "S plus" children are fairly common on typical school caseloads.
