Do I use a mental equation with all kids who stutter? If they are at an age and awareness of stuttering at which they have applied MEANING, yes. For example, a nine year old recently said: I get embarrassed when I stutter." I chunked this down linguistically be asking: "What is it about stuttering that you got embarrassed about?" She said: "the other kids think I am weird." now we have Stutter=I am weird THis is mind reading, projecting, and personalizing. This was reframed. I do mind mapping with those reading and writing. It may be just to reinforce techniques and key concepts. It may however include thoughts and feelings to change. Thanks for the inquiry, Tim
