Hi Retz: Thanks for your comments which, as always, are thought provoking. One of the reasons I thought this would be a good contribution is that, while the so-called "Integrated Approach" is perhaps the most commonly used among therapists who stutter, and has been demonstrated to be an effective method, very little has actually been said about it in this forum over the years. You're right that people who have received this therapy don't talk about it. In my experience, many (perhaps most) of them achieve greater fluency, change their lives to a greater or lesser extent, and go off to live them. The vast majority don't join support groups, so it's not clear if their experience is adequately or proportionately represented in surveys. There is actually very little real or valid "research" on the neurological effects of this therapy, meaning there is virtually no detailed understanding of how it works beyond a series of hypotheses. Thanks again for your comments. - Darrell
