Hi Anna: You're right about the contentiousness, but there is a very real difference between using the two approaches in isolation and using them in an integrated way. Used in isolation, FSI tends to be a way to avoid stuttering. Used in isolation, MSI *may* tend to glorify the "integrity" of continued dysfluency. When used together, there's a sort of Gestalt that creates something totally different than either element and allows the horizons to expand.
